How Matches Work on Matters.com
Matches help you find people who are relevant to you based on shared topics.
Matches are based on topic ratings, not followers, activity, or popularity.
You can directly search for matches only using topics marked as ❗ Top. This keeps search focused on what matters most to you.
When you rate topics on Matters, the system looks for other people who have rated the same topics. Stronger matches come from more overlap, especially on topics that matter most to you.
Matches can also be In-Depth. In-Depth matches are based on sub-topics, which allows more specific matching within a broader topic.
Matches update automatically as your topic ratings change.
Seeing a match does not notify the other person and does not start a conversation on its own. Subscribers can message matched people directly or connect through projects.
