Getting Started with Matters.com

What is Matters.com?

Matters.com is a new social and collaboration platform. We’re currently in closed beta. The easiest way to register is through PitchPodcasts.com or by requesting to be on a Matters.com podcast.

Designed for understanding, not attention: Helps you understand yourself and your world, with everything framed around meaning and context.

Connect through shared importance: Connections are based on what people say matters to them, not who’s loudest, most active, or most followed.

Say what you mean — clearly: The system helps express thoughts without the friction of writing or the risk of being misunderstood.

Built for thinking together: Not feeds optimized for reaction, but spaces optimized for understanding.

Content starts with real conversations:  Matters uses conversations—especially podcasts between real people—to create content and spark genuine connections.

1. Set up your profile

Once you’re in, start by filling out the basics of your profile. Adding a short description helps the system recommend topics that are a better fit for you.

2. Rate Topics

Matters works by rating topics and connecting with people. You rate topics as you come across them on your For You page, on someone’s profile, and across Matters.com. You don’t need to rate everything.

Topics are rated using three options:

  • Matters — what’s important to you right now
  • Not Matters — what isn’t important to you right now
  • Matters (Hold) — topics automatically move here over time with inactivity to keep your list manageable

3. Top topics (❗)

Subscribers can mark up to seven topics as ❗ Top, which keeps them pinned at the top of your profile. ❗ topics are used for matching, drive content creation, and won’t expire from your list.

4. Creating content

While you’re rating topics, you’re also creating content. You can answer why something matters by simply typing notes—there’s no need to craft a post. The system turns your notes into a clear explanation for you. Another way to create content is by participating in a Matters.com podcast.

5. Going deeper with sub-topics

As you explore, you can add sub-topics to go more in depth.

For example, if you add #findaguest–#beaguest, you can further specify what matters most to you—such as the types of podcasts, guests, or conversations you’re interested in. You rate sub-topics the same way you rate topics, as you go.

6. Connecting with people

You can follow people to see what matters to them.

Subscribers can send requests and message people directly to start conversations, invite collaboration, or set up interviews.
